Chicago Public Radio Station WBEZ, Illinois Public Radio, and Vocalo partnered with LSSI’s Storybook Project on a recent radio broadcast to connect parents who are incarcerated and their families. Prisoncast! is a holiday radio special that aired on Sunday, Dec. 17 on WBEZ (91.5 FM in Chicago) and Illinois Public Radio stations statewide.
This family-friendly show includes sound-designed audio recordings of parents in Illinois prisons reading children’s stories, as well as recorded holiday shout-outs from people whose family members are incarcerated, music, and holiday sounds from beyond prison walls requested by people who are incarcerated. LSSI employee Kevin Copeland, Program Coordinator for The Storybook Project, was interviewed for the broadcast.
