LSSI Achieves HITRUST e1 Certification, Demonstrating Commitment to Cybersecurity and Information Protection

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) one of the largest nonprofit statewide providers of human services received e1 Certification from HITRUST for cybersecurity and information protection. HITRUST is an organization providing risk management and compliance assessments and certifications to nonprofit organizations, financial institutions, and industries, among others.

The HITRUST Certification demonstrates that LSSI has met requirements defined by leading cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks, confirming that strong controls are in place to protect sensitive data and manage risk effectively. The in-scope platforms of the HITRUST certification focused on LSSI’s Behavioral Health Services residing at Netsmart.

Built on the HITRUST Assurance Program, this achievement reflects independent third-party testing, centralized quality assurance, and certification backed by HITRUST’s Cyber Threat-Adaptive engine. These elements ensure continuous alignment with the latest threat intelligence and evolving standards across the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP).

“As cybersecurity expectations rise, our clients, program partners, donors, and employees expect credible, validated assurance,” said Harry Vijayakumar, LSSI’s Chief Information Officer. “Achieving HITRUST Certification reinforces our ongoing commitment to protecting data, managing risk, and maintaining the trust of those we serve.”

“Earning HITRUST Certification demonstrates LSSI’s commitment to managing information risk and protecting sensitive data through a rigorous, proven assurance process,” said Gregory Webb, CEO of HITRUST. “This achievement reflects the organization’s proactive approach to cybersecurity and trust.”
