LSSI’s Community Support Team (CST) and Community Case Management (CCM) staff provide essential case management services for over 100 high-need community-based clients. This includes assistance with medication, groceries, medical appointments, and public aid benefits. Despite the spread and risk of COVID-19, these 11 men and women continue to show up and to serve clients—without complaint and without a need for recognition.
Donald Hardaway is the supervisor of the Community Support Team and works with clients like Glenn (both shown in the video featured below)—clients with mental or physical challenges who require extra support and structure to function well in their daily lives. “When I see our clients achieve their goals, it makes me feel really good inside, because I know the hard work they’ve put in.”
While many workplaces have closed or transitioned to working remotely, CST and CCM staff remain on the front lines of service in Illinois, ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of some of our most vulnerable clients.
This dedicated group of LSSI staff is a steady, unflappable bunch. Not much fazes them. No task is too big or too small, and they are endlessly resourceful and persistent. Their dedication to our clients and to each other has not wavered during the COVID-19 crisis.
