Sandra was living in a homeless shelter with four children and struggling with addiction when she was referred to LSSI’s Intact Family Recovery Program. Sandra’s case workers found her to be a loving mother who cared deeply for her children. She just needed some compassionate support and referrals to programs that could help her and her family.
Intact Family Recovery
Intact Family Recovery pairs a child welfare caseworker and an alcohol/drug counselor to provide intensive services to parents to enable the family to remain together.
Through the program, Sandra’s Intact Family Recovery caseworkers helped her enroll in treatment. They assisted her in securing her children’s schooling, and they helped her find permanent housing so that she could move out of the shelter. All along the way, her case workers provided her and her children with the support and encouragement they needed.
“Recovery is beautiful. I can get up every morning and do everything I need to do. I feel alive,” Sandra said, crediting LSSI with helping her and her family. “It’s a lot easier to have someone there for you than to not have anyone at all.”
