LSSI is a not-for-profit social services organization who wants to help you or your loved one get quality behavioral health treatment. That’s why we work with our clients to ensure that care is affordable. LSSI offers a Sliding Fee Scale designed to provide free or reduced cost care to those who with no insurance, high deductible, or other financial hardships to pay for their behavioral health services. No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay at the Portage Cragin Counseling Center.
Insurance
We accept Medicaid or Medicaid Managed Care plans, Marketplace plans, and a variety of commercial insurance plans, click here to see the insurance accepted by LSSI.

Sliding Fee Scale
LSSI offers a Sliding Fee Scale designed to provide free or reduced cost care to those who have no insurance, high deductible, or other financial hardships, to pay for their behavioral health services. LSSI bases eligibility for the sliding fee scale solely on a person’s ability to pay. The Federal Poverty Guidelines are used in creating and annually updating the sliding fee scale to determine eligibility. To be considered for the sliding fee scale, a client must provide proof of income. Click here to see proof of income accepted by LSSI.
A request for reduced cost services may be made by the patient, a family member, or a case manager or social service staff on the client’s behalf. Payment for Services
Payment is expected at time of service. If payment cannot be made at time of service, please speak to our administrative staff who handles billing. We do our best to work with each person’s unique needs.
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards as forms of payment. For your convenience if you have a credit card, it is requested that you store it in our secure payment system for it to be charged after services.
Cancellation Policy
We believe therapy can be most effective and efficient when you attend on a regular basis and commit yourself to the therapeutic process. We see ourselves engaged in a mutual contract in which you and your therapist both reserve and prioritize time with one another to work together to improve your mental and emotional well-being. Cancellation of an appointment is requested at least 24 hours in advance. For Monday appointments, cancellations must be made for preceding workday. Services may be discontinued if you are inconsistent in attending scheduled therapy sessions.
