Thanks to the incredible support of 100 churches from across the three Illinois synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), this year’s Good Shepherd Sunday events raised $115,000. Thirty congregations welcomed a speaker or guest preacher, helping to share LSSI’s mission and its impact on 56,000 people across Illinois.
Good Shepherd Sunday gives congregations an opportunity to learn more about the programs
and services they support and that help people in their community.
“The prayers, gifts, and partnerships demonstrated through Good Shepherd Sunday allow LSSI to embody God’s love for our neighbors in need,” said Rev. Kelly Nieman Anderson, Manager of Church and Community Engagement. “From foster care, senior housing, mental health, substance use treatment and services for adults with intellectual/development disabilities, this support makes it all possible.”
In addition to Good Shepherd Sunday, LSSI Sundays provide opportunities anytime of year for various faith communities to learn more about LSSI’s work.
