A house is bricks and mortar, but a home incorporates love and special touches that are meaningful for the people who inhabit it. At LSSI, our Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) staff work hard to make houses homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in communities across Illinois.
Whether it’s in a group home with 24/7 staff to support them, or in an apartment in the community where plans are created to help them overcome challenges, LSSI looks at the whole person, helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities lead lives of independence and experience community.

We also have the commitment of our churches. Members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dixon, this year inaugurated LSSI’s Birthday Buddies program. It pairs congregations with residents of our group homes to make sure they feel extra special on their birthdays. It speaks to LSSI’s mission of bringing healing, justice, and wholeness to people and communities.
LSSI is ever grateful for our friends who support our programs and the people we serve. We can’t thank you enough. On October 7, we will say a special thank-you to The Rev. Wayne Miller and Pam Miller, who will be honored at our True Friend Celebration.
Much can be accomplished when we work together to build up our communities.
