Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) will present the 2023 True Friend Award to The Rev. Wayne and Pam Miller at its 42nd Annual True Friend Celebration on Oct. 7 Chicago. This year’s theme is Everyday Heroes.
The True Friend Award is given annually to individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to the human community. The Millers are lifelong Lutherans who have been active in a variety of causes that serve people in need, including LSSI, as well as other nonprofit and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)-related programs.
Rev. Miller was Bishop of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the ELCA from 2007 to 2019. Pam Miller was a member of the Women’s Network of LSSI.
This year’s True Friend Celebration will be held at the Union League Club, 65 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago. Proceeds from the event will benefit LSSI and its programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
