Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) President and CEO Mark Stutrud has joined Lutheran Services in America’s (LSA) new Public Policy and Advocacy Committee.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, Lutheran Services in America is a national nonprofit organization made up of 300 member organizations (including LSSI) in 1,400 communities across the country. LSA brings together this network of leaders, partners, and funders to tackle issues that are critical to our communities.
As part of the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee, Stutrud will work with 18 leaders from organizations across the country to amplify and coordinate national advocacy efforts for issues like Medicaid, affordable housing, and workplace development.
“Working for effective public policy in human services is essential to exactly how persons will be served in the future,” Stutrud said. “Many times, we are also advocating for today, in preserving or bringing immediate resources.”
The committee started as a one-year pilot and will now be a cornerstone of LSA’s advocacy efforts to help people and communities.
“I am convinced that the collective effort of Lutheran Services in America will have a positive impact,” Stutrud said. “I look forward to serving as a member of this movement.”
