Pulling Back the Curtain on Overdose

LSSI is hosting “Pulling Back the Curtain on Overdose,” its 3rd Annual Overdose Awareness and Recovery Month event on Sunday, September 29 at the Neo-Futurist Theater, 5153 N. Ashland, Chicago. Doors open at 2 p.m. with a performance at 3 p.m.

The free event features an original performance by performance artist and advocate John Michael Colgin, along with an expert panel discussion featuring people with lived and professional experience with harm reduction and recovery, a Narcan demonstration and distribution, and a resource fair.

The performance is interactive and explores drug use, harm reduction, community care, mental health, suicide, stigma, and teaches attendees how and when to use Narcan. It is designed to be both practical and perspective-shifting.
