Our crisis team serves the north and northwest side of Chicago and comes to your location in an unmarked vehicle. We are discrete and professional. Teams may consist of one or two trained crisis professionals depending on the situation. Our team will meet with the person in crisis and work with them to determine next steps.

Does LSSI’s Mobile Crisis Team Come to Me?

Our Mobile Crisis Team is available to those on the north and northwest side of Chicago. Once you call LSSI Connect and Press 1, a trained professional will assess the current situation and support the caller in identifying needs and whether same-day, on-site intervention is needed. No matter the situation, our professionals will help the caller in identifying the next best steps.

How Do I Know if I am Having a Mental Health Crisis?

A crisis can look different for everyone. There is no right or wrong reason to call. If you need immediate help stabilizing a situation, we can send a crisis counselor to you. If you need referrals or additional information, we can connect you to professional and community services that can help, just make the call.

How You May Feel During a Crisis

  • I feel completely overwhelmed.
  • I feel out of control.
  • Feeling anxious or paranoid.
  • I feel alone, lonely, isolated, or misunderstood.
  • I feel frustrated.
  • I feel scared or unsafe.
  • I am panicking and feel unsure.
  • I am depressed.
  • Feeling off balance.
  • I think I’m suicidal.

What May Be Happening During a Crisis

  • Speeding heartrate, can’t slow down heartrate.
  • Hard to breathe, hard to catch your breath or slow down your breathing.
  • Can’t sleep.
  • Shaking.
  • Unable to stop crying.
  • Hallucinating: Seeing or hearing things that other people do not.
