Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) connects volunteers 55 years and older with service opportunities in their communities based on their skills and availability. RSVP is part of the Senior Corps, which, in turn, is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent federal agency that promotes community service. This program has 800 volunteers in Winnebago and Boone counties, and works with 90 nonprofit organizations. RSVP/Boone and Winnebago County serves in four of the Corporation for National Community and Services Focus areas:

  • Healthy Futures (health education)
  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Education
  • Veterans and Military Families

RSVP volunteers serve in other Community Priorities such as: hospitals, nursing homes, hospice, blood centers, health clinics, police departments, homeless shelters, Habitat for Humanity, county jails, Head Start, daycares, and retirement centers, to name a few.
