Community Foundation of Fox River Valley Awards $5,000 Grant to LSSI

December 16, 2021

LSSI was granted $5,000 from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley to support the organization’s efforts to improve the Fox Hill Prader-Willi Group Home in Aurora.

Fox Hill provides a home for individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome, which is a complex genetic condition that causes a chronic feeling of hunger. Prader-Willi Syndrome affects one in every 15,000 births. At this time, there is no cure for Prader-Willi, which may also involve intellectual disabilities, as well as other chronic health issues. Individuals with Prader-Willi need supervision and assistance in controlling their eating and managing their weight.

Six adults live at Fox Hill, and LSSI is one of the only providers in the state that offers services for individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome. The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley provided funding for capital improvements to the Fox Hill Group Home to ensure the safety and comfortability of the residents that live there. Thanks in part to funding from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, LSSI was able to replace the roof and chimney at Fox Hill. LSSI is thankful for its partnership with this vital community foundation!
