How is Joshua Arms protecting residents against COVID-19?

To help prevent and reduce the spread of COVID-19, Joshua Arms of LSSI is committed to following all federal and state guidance, and coordinating with the Illinois Department of Public Health and the local health department.

What is Joshua Arms?

Joshua Arms offers affordable senior residence apartments and The Oaks supportive living apartments. We offer affordable rent options as well as comprehensive financial assistance packages through state and federal government programs. Contact us for more information. Where is Joshua Arms located?

Joshua Arms is located at 1315 Rowell Ave., Joliet. We are close to Interstate 80, with convenient access to shopping, restaurants, theaters, and hospitals.

Who can live at Joshua Arms?

We provide apartment-style living for adults 62+ years old and disabled persons aged 18+ who require the design features of our accessible units. Our supportive living units —The Oaks — offer personal care assistance and housekeeping services to individuals 65 and older. Learn the difference between apartment-style residences and supportive living apartments.

Are there apartments currently available?

Yes. The application process requires approximately 7-8 months for apartment-style and 2-4 weeks for The Oaks supportive living. There is no application fee. Contact us for more information.

What is the size of the apartments?

Our apartment-style residences and The Oaks apartments are each 550 square feet.

Is there a charge for utilities?

Residents of our apartment-style housing pay for their own electric, telephone, and cable. Subsidies may be available for those who qualify. Residents of The Oaks do not pay for electric, but are responsible for their telephone and cable. Cable television subscriptions are extra for all tenants.

Are pets allowed at Joshua Arms?

Yes, we welcome pets, but there is a weight limit of 30 pounds and only 1 pet with fur is allowed per apartment.

Is smoking allowed at Joshua Arms?

We are a smoke-free facility. There are designated smoking areas located outside on the property for residents who smoke.

Do you have to be Lutheran to live at Joshua Arms?

No. We are an equal housing opportunity provider, as are all LSSI programs.

Are there social activities at Joshua Arms?

We provide thoughtfully planned, daily social activities and regularly scheduled community outings with bus transportation for residents. Throughout the week, residents are invited to participate in a wide range of interesting programs and events. These include: Nintendo Wii bowling and other games; card and board games; arts and crafts projects; and group exercise classes.

I have my own car. Is parking available?

Yes. For residents who own cars, we have ample parking available. Convenient parking is also available for visiting family and friends.

Is bus service offered at Joshua Arms?

Bus transportation is provided for regularly scheduled trips to shopping and other sites during the weekdays. On Sunday, transportation is available to 3 local churches. Additionally, Joliet city buses make regular stops outside the facility. PACE buses are available for tenants eligible for PACE bus passes.

What other amenities does Joshua Arms offer?

Our building has a community library—with access to 3 computers, laundry, a beauty shop, and a Country Store for basic grocery items. Three full-time social service coordinators work closely with residents to make sure their needs are being met and assist them.
