Mobile Crisis Team Response
Makes a Difference
In ordinary life, we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.

A Message from the Vice President

Building Community

"A bridge to help people." This is how LSSI's mobile crisis supervisor Tanya Puente describes her work that is critical for individuals in a serious mental health crisis.

When I think of Tanya's quote from the cover story of this issue of Inspired, it is a beautiful metaphor for all the work we do with our clients-whether it's programs such as foster care, substance use treatment, mental health services, or housing for adults with developmental disabilities. All of our services are a bridge to help people. For our LSSI friends who are donors, volunteers, or advocates, you too are a bridge to help people. Through your support, you strengthen and enhance our programs, and the children, adults, and seniors we serve.

Ann Anderson is part of The Sewing Group at St. James Lutheran Church in Lake Forest. The group has been making teddy bears for children in LSSI programs for over 30 years. "It's nice to get together, but it's a social outing with meaning," Ann says of the group's work. Their teddy bears are that "bridge" that comforts children.

At this Christmas season, we reflect on friends like you who truly show Christ's love and hope in the world.

Thank you for being the bridge to help people across Illinois. Merry Christmas!

Peace and Prayers,
David P. Novak, JD
Vice President for Advancement
Executive Director, The Cornerstone Foundation

Beneficiary Designations:An Easy Way to Remember LSSI

Beneficiary Designations:An Easy Way to Remember LSSI

One of the easiest ways to remember LSSI is through a beneficiary designation-it's as simple as filling out a form. Beneficiary designations list the person and/or organizations that will receive a specific asset upon the death of the donor.

Individuals can specify the person and charities they want to support. They also can specify the percentage of the assets they want each beneficiary to receive. Beneficiary designations are available when giving the following assets:

  • Retirement Assets
  • Donor Advised Funds
  • Life Insurance
  • Investment Accounts
  • Other Assets
