Board Books for the Storybook Project

LSSI's Storybook Project allows incarcerated parents to stay connected with their children in a simple and meaningful way. With the help of our amazing volunteers, a parent selects a book and reads it aloud into a recording device. Both the recording and the book are then sent to the child back home. Because so many incarcerated parents are young themselves, they often leave behind children who are infants and toddlers. Right now, the Storybook Project is in real need of simple board books for children under the age of 3. You can purchase board books yourself, but all books must be new. We cannot accept used books.

Please mail books directly to our PFM offices: LSSI, 102 E. DeYoung St., Suite B, Marion, IL 62959.

Year-Round Opportunities

If you or a group of people from your congregation are interested in volunteering your time in support of LSSI, please contact Joy Medrano at 847.635.4653 or Joy.Medrano@LSSI.org.

Many of the children, families and individuals we serve are in need of life's basic necessities. Throughout the year, LSSI receives assistance from generous friends to provide both everyday items and special gifts for the people served by our programs. We are in need of gift cards from Target, Walmart, Jewel Osco and Mariano's in $5, $10 and $20 denominations for emergency funds distributed by our programs. For more information, contact Joy Medrano at 847.635.4653 or Joy.Medrano@LSSI.org.
