Many of the children, families, and individuals we serve are in need of life’s basic necessities. Throughout the year, LSSI receives assistance from generous friends to provide both everyday items and special gifts for the people served by our programs.
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois is inviting churches to adopt a program site this year to help make it a Merry Christmas for the children we serve.
The following programs in the Metro Chicago area have specific needs:
- 23 children at our Austin Head Start need winter coats, boots, and toys for Christmas.
- Winthrop Head Start has 54 children in need of winter coats.
- A Christmas toy will brighten the lives of 70 Augustana Foster Care children.
- 20 children from our Visits to Mom families would appreciate clothing and toys for Christmas.
We thank the many churches who already are partnering with us to make sure children have a warm winter and joyous Christmas: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (Schaumburg), Lutheran Church of the Atonement (Barrington), Messiah Lutheran Church (Wauconda), Peace Lutheran Church (Lake Zurich), Holy Cross Lutheran Church (Libertyville), St. James Lutheran Church (Lake Forest), Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Prospect Heights), and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Glenview), and more.
