The Women's Network

Members of the Women’s Network of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) make a real difference in the lives of the people whom LSSI serves. They visit many of LSSI’s programs, raise funds through and fall , and advocate for LSSI clients by relating to congregations and other groups the breadth of LSSI’s services.

Women’s Network members come from many Illinois communities, and stand willing and able to put their skills and enthusiasm to work for others. Some work in leadership positions, serving as officers of the group. Many contribute willing hands to collect gift cards and new gift-in-kind items for children (e.g., car seats, books, toys, mittens, etc.) – which are then distributed to children, youth and adults served by LSSI programs – or just invite other women to join one of the activities. The Women’s Network’s hands-on efforts greatly support and strengthen LSSI’s mission of bringing healing, justice and wholeness to people and communities.

The group meets approximately six times a year. Annual membership dues are $30.

One area where the Women’s Network has made a significant contribution is the Bonding with Books program. This program provides a book a month for children who attend one of LSSI’s Head Start program sites in Chicago. The program encourages family involvement and helps prepare economically disadvantaged children for school. Proceeds from the annual Fashion Show support this venture.

Membership in the Women’s Network of LSSI provides a meaningful opportunity to serve people and to meet other women who care about making a difference. Consider becoming a Women’s Network member!
