Respite Care for Caregivers
Sometimes, caregivers just need some time to themselves so they can re-energize. Or they may want to join their families on a vacation but don't know how they can do so while caring for their loved ones.
Short-term respite services are available at P.A. Peterson Center for Health in Rockford and St. Matthew Center for Health in Park Ridge.
Through an AmeriCorps grant, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) provides in-home respite support to aging adults and their caregivers through Legacy Corps. Legacy Corps members provide time off for caregivers to run errands, see to other responsibilities or just relax. They do not provide any medical or therapeutic services or tasks.
LSSI offers one of only 18 Legacy Corps programs in the United States. LSSI offers respite services in Boone, Cook, Fulton, Jo Daviess, McHenry, Peoria, Rock Island and Winnebago counties.
