Luther Center is located in a beautiful setting in downtown Rockford on the banks of the Rock River. It’s a great place to live for seniors who want to enjoy “city living” at an affordable cost.
Luther Center’s 200 apartments include 29 assisted living units. The majority – 187 – of the Center’s apartments are one-bedroom, with 13 two-bedroom units. Twenty apartments are designed for residents who are disabled or otherwise physically challenged and require the features of an accessible unit.
Apartment amenities include:
- Electric stove and frost-free refrigerator
- Mini blinds
- Air conditioner
- Wall-to-wall carpeting (in living room and bedroom)
- Bathroom grab bars
- Emergency pull cord in bathroom
- Portable emergency communications unit
- Cable TV access
For residents of the assisted living units, LSSI provides three meals a day, housekeeping and laundry once a week, medication reminders and an emergency pendant. Residents of the retirement apartments may choose to be served two meals daily at a reasonable cost.
Residents must be 62 or older or over the age of 18 and disabled and meet specific income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Rent is 30 percent of the resident’s adjusted annual income.
