Educational Support Services
Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) provides Educational Support Services for children and adolescents who are experiencing some type of difficulty in school.
These programs include:
- School-Based Services serves schools in Carroll, Lee, Ogle and Whiteside Counties. LSSI’s professional counselors work directly with the schools to provide prevention and intervention services for children from kindergarten through 12th grades. Services include: individual counseling, crisis intervention, group counseling, classroom presentations, faculty/staff education and academic enrichment.
- Strengthening Today’s At-Risk Students (STARS) serves children in kindergarten through the eighth grade at schools in the Rockford Public School District. The program works with children and their families to decrease truancy, suspensions and expulsions. Services include: tutoring, child care, parent training and support, counseling, mentoring, incentive program and referrals to other sources.
- Supporting Positive Change serves 10- to 15-year-old students in Champaign County who are at risk of being suspended from school. Program includes student and parent counseling sessions, in-home visits and post-program follow-up.
