Developmental Disabilities Services Overview

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) provides group homes and services for adults with developmental disabilities. At the homes, LSSI offers client-centered programs that provide clients with assistance in the least restrictive environment. The programs work to maximize each individual’s potential for independence, self-sufficiency and personal development based on the person’s own needs and preferences.

LSSI’s programs are licensed by the Division of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, Department of Children and Family Services, and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

In 2006, LSSI’s CILAs (Community Integrated Living Arrangements) received 315 points out of a possible 335 points, resulting in a 93 percent rating after unannounced visits from Illinois Department of Human Services surveyors. This put LSSI's CILA programs into a very elite group of agencies receiving a Level II award.
