Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) provides a non-medical environment at the Kenmore Center in Chicago where men and women can safely withdraw from drugs and/or alcohol.
Clients are supervised 24/7, and EMTs (emergency medical technicians) monitor the clients’ withdrawal and check their vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, etc.) on a regular basis. Clients are also assigned a counselor, who works with the individual as he or she becomes stable to assess the need for further treatment.
Clients may stay up to 14 days at the center, after which they can move into an outpatient or residential treatment program with LSSI or another agency.
