Located in Chicago’s historic Hyde Park, D.A.R.E. offers community living in the big city for seniors and disabled individuals 18 years of age or older who require the special features of a barrier-free unit. D.A.R.E. offers 24 one- and two-bedroom apartments, all designed and equipped for those who are physically challenged.

Apartment amenities include:

• Wall-to-wall carpeting (in bedroom and living room)
• Electric stove and refrigerator
• Individually controlled heating
• Air conditioning
• Lifelife Emergency Call System
• Bathroom grab bars

In addition, residents can enjoy:

• On-site laundry facilities
• A full-time social service coordinator, who can assist residents in obtaining needed living services

Residents must be 62 or older, or physically disabled persons 18 years or older, and meet specific income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Rent is 30 percent of the resident’s adjusted annual income.
