2011 Forget-Me-Not Brunch and Fashion Show Scrapbook

On May 7, 309 people attended the 27th Annual Forget-Me-Not Brunch and Fashion Show at The Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows. The event, hosted by The Women’s Network of LSSI, raised approximately $51,000 for Bonding with Books, a literacy program for Lutheran Social Services of Illinois’ five Chicago Head Start sites in Humboldt Park, North Austin, Rogers Park, Uptown and West Englewood.

From October to May, the program provides one book a month free for approximately 280 preschool children, and during that month, classroom activities and field trips are linked to the theme of the book. Bonding with Books, which is funded by this annual event, encourages families to read together, and the books build a foundation for a home library.
